THINGS TO DO IN MÜ: 19 - 25 MAY

It seems like the summer has finally reached Munich! This week is promising lots of sunshine and up to 28 degrees! Time to cool your beer crates in the Isar for the next BBQ party, play frisbee and percussion the English Garden, go hiking in the Alpes, and and and!

By the way, we are very happy to announce that we are now collaborating with the fantastic Munich International Friends community! You can find us on their website in the EVENTS drop down menu.

Tuesday, 20 May:
SWIMMING POOL & PAINTINGS: If there are open air film screenings in swimming pools, why not use them for display of art as well? Cosimabad is currently hosting an exhibition by Annelie Ruthner and  Michaelibad is showcasing Mariano Caminoli's water colours of mountains and animals.

Wednesday, 21 May:
ICE CREAM: Finally the ice cream weather has hit Munich! We recommend checking out our favourite ice cream place Ballabeni opposite the Brandhorst Museum, where the dark chocolate with ginger is rich and divine, and the lemon and basil sorbet is utterly delicious and refreshing. Another place which can compete with Ballabeni's queues is Der verrückte Eismacher - the mad ice cream maker who has got Weißbier, spare-ribs and other crazy ice cream types on offer.

Thursday, 22 May:
EXPRESSIONISM: Ernst Ludwig Kirchner is a superb German expressionist, member of the art collective the Brücke from the beginning of the 20th century. If you love this era of bright colours, come down to the exhibition opening at the Pinakothek der Moderne with over 90 pictures of Kirchner! Runs from 22 May until 31 August.

Friday, 23 May:
OPEN AIR: Open air cinema at Olympiasee is the first one to kick off this summer. If you've missed the Hobbit movie this winter, this is your chance to see it while enjoying a little picnic on the grass. And don't forget to bring dozens of blankets! Starts at 9.15pm, tickets from 8€.

Saturday, 24 May:
STREET ART TOUR: A unique chance to embark on a Tour de la Créativité this week only with Munich's renown street artist Loomit! He promises to open up a new perspective on the well-known and notoriously preserved city. We once went on an alternative city tour in London back in October 2012, and were totally thrilled. Hurry, because the tour is already almost booked out! To register, write an e-mail to tour@pdlc.de. The only available time slots are Friday 4.30pm, Saturday 2.30pm and 6.30pm. Free!

SCRAPBOOKING:  Hands Gallery in Haidhausen is hosting a scrap booking workshop lead by the lovely Kate from Cut & Tear! Learn various paper crafting techniques and design your own creative books! From 3pm until 7pm.

WATER WAR: If you need some cooling down, head to the English Garden and join Munich International Friends for a water war! Allowed weapons: weapons: all kind of water guns, all kind of water catapults and all kind of water balloons and bombs. The meeting point is at 3pm right here. Free, just turn up!
