Even though we start the week with Wednesday this time, there are sill plenty of things kicking off, which we though you shouldn't miss! Although, regarding the current weather forecast, you might want to choose to leave it all and leap into one of the beautiful Alpine lakes during weekend, which we would totally understand...
 
Wednesday, 4 June:
MEDIA PHILOSOPHY: Platon Reloaded is a title of the media salon with a renown German philosopher Julian Nida-Rümelin, who will talk about media eduction in the 21st century. Entry is free, register by emailing interaktiv@sin-net.de. Blackbox at Gasteig, Rosenheimer Str. 5, starts at 7pm.

Thursday, 5 June:
ARTS PERFORMANCE: After a premiere at Haus der Kunst, Anna McCarthy will be showing her musical How to Start a Revolution in the MaximiliansForum, a wild spectacle which aestheticises rebelion and revolution. This is a good opportunity to visit the underground world of MaximiliansForum if you've never been there, which is an art space in an abandoned underground pass. Maximilianstr. 38. Free, starts at 7pm.

Friday, 6 June:
DIY GLORY: It's time for another ETSY Craft Party! ETSY an online-shop for everything hand-made and has already developed to an international DIY community. This year's topic is "Recapture", which will be all about pimping up your photographs with unusual techniques like stitching or colouring. Make sure to bring along your own pictures! We know of two locations participating in this event. First of all, the Hands Gallery which we already mentioned two weeks ago. Pariser Str. 21, from 5pm until 9pm. Free! The second venue is siebenmachen at 20 St.-Bonifatius-Straße. According to the ETSY webpage it's sold out, but we guess you can still turn up. From 7pm until 9pm. Free!

Saturday, 7 June:
MUSIC FESTIVAL: Gasteig is hosting KLANGfest 2014 offering four stages simultaneously to musicians of various styles and backgrounds. And it's all for free! We would love to check out Andrea Pancur and Ilya Shneyveys who mix Bavarian yodeling with Yiddish klezmer. Doesn't it sound intriguing? Have a look at the whole programme here. Rosenheimer Str. 5. From 3pm until late night.

BICYCLE NIGHT: It's Munich's 5th Radlnacht this year! Various big streets will be closed to traffic to create a 12km route for thousands of cyclists, who will head from Odeonsplatz at 8.30pm. However, you can already come at 5pm and enjoy a live music programme and take advantage of the food stalls. If you want to cycle in style, come with an old bike and dressed up in 1920s look. Watch a video from last year here. Starts at 8.30pm at Odeonsplatz. Free, just turn up!

Sunday, 8 June:
HIKE & SKETCH: Fancy a sketching hike in good company? Go on a guided trip with Madame Regarder Urbanique and bring along your sketch book, pencils, water colours and what have you. This time it will be all about nature, Isar and baroque architecture. There are also tours through the old city on offer on other days. Takes 6h for 6km, you're supposed to sketch a lot after all. AFRICA FESTIVAL: Initiated by the UNICEF, Afrika Tage is coming to town from 6th until 9th June, bringing along live-music and traditional dances, a bazaar with plenty of exotic food, and an exciting programme for kids. Theresienwiese, daily from 11am until 11pm. Free!

THINGS TO DO IN MÜ: 31 MARCH - 1 APRIL

We are back! Which means, we've been away. It was not intended, but it turned out that we needed a longer break. Now we finally feel rested and prepared for all kinds of freakish events in our blooming city, kissed by the sun and seduced by moonlight... However, to make sure that we do not need another break too soon, we will adjust the rhythm of the posts in this blog to our lifes, which means that the posts will be less regular (but not necessarily less frequent). They will also cover different periods of time, and not always a whole week. Enough said, here we go, and the week starts with a bang!

Monday, 31 March:

MUSIC AGAINST ALL WARS: "It was only this afternoon that we still believed in something. Demonstration to bury all wars R.I.P." Such is the title of a freakish performance / demonstration thought out by Munich based artist Anna McCarthy. Munich's department of Arts and Culture has selected five arts projects to commemorate 100 years since the beginning of WWI, Anna's project among them. The demonstration (Meeting Point: 1pm Marienplatz, march to Zenith concert hall) will be accompanied by dadaist poetry interpreted in songs and speech by several musicians, among them Anna McCarthy's band Damenkapelle and Anna's brother Nick McCarthy from the band Franz Ferdinand (who play Zenith this evening). Here's the description of the project from Anna McCarthy's website:   

The demonstration follows the route of the striking arms' workers in Munich, January 1918 during the 1st World War. This was one of the main demonstrations that led to the overthrow of the Wittelsbach monarchy and the shortlived Bavarian Socialist Revolution (1918-1919) led on by anarchist artists and writers including Erich Mühsam, Ernst Toller, Oskar Maria Graf and Kurt Eisner.
The highly decorated float will move through the city visiting significant points and remembering the shortlived dream of a free state through song and speech. The poems of Erich Mühsam and Hugo Ball (founder of Dada) are newly interpreted by Munich-based musicians DAMENKAPELLE, Tagar, Manu Rzytki, Federico Sanchez, Sebastian Kellig and Nick McCarthy from Franz Ferdinand (pun intended). The story will be told backwards and abstracted of the days before, during and following; to end all wars then and now.
The next day we will wake up and realise we've all been fooled.

Tuesday, 1 April:
ART IST HART: Opening of an "analog vs. digital art" group exhibition in Provisorium. A long list of interesting artists - sounds like a nice pretext to visit an arts bar with a certain charm. Talk to the artists, have some drinks, and don't be fooled!
