THINGS TO DO IN MÜ: 14 - 18 APRIL

Monday, 14 April:
DIX VS BECKMANN: Their lives show several parellels, however it is not known whether they ever met in person. Whatever the case may be, the juxtapositon of two of the most important German painters of the 20th century at the Hypo-Kunsthalle is definitely worth checking out. "Dix / Beckman: World as myth" will run until August (10am to 8pm daily), Mondays tickes are only 6€ (half the regular price).

Tuesday, 15 April:
MUC PHOTOGRAPHY: Portraits, landscapes, photo essays and macros - Munich's emering photographers' exhibition opening tonight at 8PM at Provisorium will represent the city in all its facets. The exhibition will run only until Sunday, so hurry up. Entrance is free. 

Wednesday, 16 April:
EASTER EGGS: How do you want your eggs for Easter? Join the HUIJ Easter workshop and give them your indivudal style! One hour for a tenner, 2 to 5 hours for 20€. 

Friday, 18 April:
CYCLING AT NIGHT: In keeping with its motto "We are not blocking the traffic, we are traffic!", Critical Mass Munich is calling upon cyclists to join the "disorganized, untihierarchical" protest for equal rights with motorised traffic. All you need to do is jump on your bike and join the crowd meeting at the foot of Bavaria tonight at 8pm. Don't forget your lights and helmets!

THINGS TO DO IN MÜ THIS WEEKEND: 7 - 8 DECEMBER

After spending two past pre-Christmases in London, we are totally in the mood to embrace all the Christmas kitsch Munich has to offer! It is definitely not the same without all those advents, authentic Christmas markets and the best lebkuchen in the world! Anna is even so desperate, that she is probably going to bake plätzchen for the first time in her life...

Here are some exciting things for the weekend, to fill your gaps between drinking glühwein and swallowing sweets:

Saturday, 7 December:

AUGMENTED REALITY: Augmented Reality Show with Markus Layman, a mix of new technologies and magic tricks. We're particularly intrigued by the promise to combine this show with a critical discourse on technology and society. Shows are on Saturday and Sunday, tickets 18€/15€, starts at 8pm.

ARTS & ACADEMIC RESEARCH: If you are into artistic research and combination of practice and academic theory, you might want to pop in the LaborARTtorium, a weekend of lectures, performances and installations organised by LMU's PhD program ProArt. Starts at 9.30am on Friday and Saturday. See the full program here.

Sunday, 8 December:
BRUNCH & MAKE: An open studio space / cafe / shop HUIJ offers a special second advent brunch. Go for the classical version with apples, or try something new: a vegan strudel with red cabbage and pear or a veggie strudel. 11.30am - 15.30pm.

VINYL FLEA-MARKET: All you second-hand vinyl lovers like us! There will be a flee-market at the bar Favorit, Damenstiftstr 12. The entry is free, and if you want to sell some of your old treasures, it is also free. Starts at 7.30pm. 

XMAS & HOT DRINKS: Have a cup of the comforting hot liquid from the biggest Feuerzangenbowle (hot punch with rum, red wine and sugar) in the world (9.000 l.!!), which will be installed at Isartor. To keep your eyes busy, the organisers will be showing the German Christmas classics "Die Feuerzangenbowle" from 1944. Starts at 11am every day, from 6 Dec until 6 Jan, just turn up.
 

THINGS TO DO IN MÜ THIS WEEK: 6-10 NOVEMBER

Time passed so quickly the previous week that we almost did not notice how the new week started. We left the shores of the Isar for the weekend and spent it across Thames river, visiting good friends and our favourite little places, memories of the time spent living in that behemoth of a city. Back home, Munich once again feels tiny and cosy. Yet underneath its roofs and the thick clouds above them there is so much to be discovered! That is why we initially started this blog - to remind ourselves (and everyone else who cares to be reminded by us) that coming home tired and placing yourselves in front of the tellys or the monitors to watch the newest episode of your favourite series or some videos on YouTube is not the only way to have a good time. Unless you are about to watch the new episode of Sherlock or the 50th anniverary Special of Doctor Who. The problem being that they are not out yet. But just you wait!

Wednesday, 6 November:
POETRY: No Country for Odd Poets. Syrian poet Aboud Saeed will be reading his texts, which he posts on facebook. Curated by Pico Be and Anna McCarthy. Kunstverein München, Galeriestr. 4. 8pm.

Thursday, 7 November:
NIGHT CITY TOUR: A guided tour with a night guard, 1,5 - 2 hours. Tickets 15€, students 14€. Starts daily at 9pm. Register here.

Friday, 8 November:
PARTY: Sound of Music Now 2013 - Electronica. Electronic music at Feierwerk. With DJs and VJs. My friends from the uni called OptoPussies will be doing the visuals that night. Hansastr. 39-41. 10pm. Free, just turn up.

Saturday, 9 November:
CINEMA: The Fifth Estate - Inside Wikileaks. A controversial film about Wikileaks, with Benedict Cumberbatch starring as Julian Assange. In English. Museum Lichtspiele, Lilienstrasse 2. Tickets 8,50€. Starts at 5.20pm.

Sunday, 10 November:
SPORTS: Every Sunday there are sports activities sponsored by the city - Freizeitsport. One lessons costs 2,60€. There is a huge list of various sports lessons, have a look here.

BRUNCH AND MAKE: French toast brunch at HUIJ - an open workshop where can print on t-shirts, make our own soap and much more! Westendstr. 49. Starts at 11.30am.

Also, 29-30 November there will be an event organised by the Rails Girls. If you are keen on a weekend of designing, prototyping and coding with Ruby on Rails, you need to apply until the 15 November here.
